This is a concentrated wine with a fleshy palate and vibrant fruit flavours of cassis and blackcurrant. It is a generous wine which is beautifully ripened yet retains poise and the elegance of great Cabernet.

Judge's Comment, International Wine and Spirit Competition, October 2009
This wine's bouquet is simply explosive, with an almost exaggerated concentration of gamey, ripe tertiary aromas, hints of medicine and spices. On the palate it's super ripe, leathery, supple and evolved, with cinnamon spice, and well supported by ample soft tannin. Great wine, not a bit shy

Grape Expectations
The Clare Valley-based Taylors celebrated the 10th anniversary of its flagship red with a gold medal at the 2009 International Wine and Spirit Competition in London. It's a cracking red, opulent and polished with intense black berry and cherry fruit flavours, rich chocolate characters, quality oak and fine, silky tannins.

Drink
Excellent wine sourced from the original vineyard planted in 1969. It's a typically bold Clare statement with masses of blackcurrant and concentrated black fruits merged with some lifted cedary oak. The palate is fleshy and lots of sweet dark fruit intensity. Just starting to show what it's made of.

This has a broody, mulberry scented nose with touches of black plum and melted tarà The palate is full bodies with firm tannins, good acidity, an attacking Cabernet, racy acidity with layers of terry black fruit on the finish. Superb Clare Valley Cabernet

James Halliday, Wine Companion 2011, September 2010
Strong colour; a powerful, medium- to full-bodied cabernet with the savoury earthy notes typical of Clare, and enough blackcurrant fruit and cedary French oak to fill out the long palate.

Bob Campbell (MW), BobsWineReviews.com, November 2010
Dense, complex red with some savoury, forest floor complexity emerging with bottle age. The wine has a great texture with silky tannins providing plenty of backbone. It has power and plenty of potential for further development.

Lisa Porrotti Brown, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, December 2010
2005St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon gives a deep garnet color and maturing nose of leather, tobacco leaf, creme de cassis, mulberries and black olives with a really earthy undercurrent of black truffles and damp loam. Full bodied and well fleshed, offering a good back bone of medium-high finely grained tannins, it has a long coffee laced finish. Drinking now it should remain delicious to 2018+.

Matt Skinner, Matt Skinner's Wine Guide 2011, January 2011
From the super premium St Andrews line up, the cabernet is a brilliant illustration of power and elegance. Deep, dark and savoury on the nose with smells of prune, bitter chocolate, leather and sweet spice, while in the mouth it comes across sweet, rich and velvety with soft acidity and a wash of nicely rounded tannins to finish
