Wine Colour
At release, the wine is a dark red colour with a faint brick red hue to the edge. The depth and intensity of the colour means it should hold for many years to come.
Wine Bouquet
The wine has lifted and distinctly varietal aromas of cassis, dark cherries, choc-mint and sweet spice along with fresh, vibrant blackcurrant fruit and subtle cigar and tobacco from the oak.
Wine Palate
The palate delivers what the aroma promises with generous, concentrated blackcurrant fruit up front, mint freshness through the mid palate and finishing with long, fine-grained tannins. These characters are matched with lashings of chocolate, cedar and cinnamon from the French oak maturation. It is a generous wine which is beautifully ripened yet retains poise and the elegance of great Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cellaring Notes
The wine is evolving well at release yet should cellar well to 2019 possibly longer.

Wining Pom, February 2012
Still two years away from release but an exciting new development in the St Andrews range. Only the most exceptional fruit off the Cabernet block make it into this wine. Deeply redolent of cassis, tobacco and cigar box with undercurrents of cherry. This is elegance personified, the iron fist in the velvet glove with a core of black cherry, currant, tobacco and dark choc, thereÆs a little Cabernet leafiness, a seamless structure and beguiling tannin framework.

Tasting Panel, Ultimate Wine Challenge 2012, May 2012
Piercing tannins and a touch of fresh green pepper. A hearty wine that will make a great accompaniment to red meat dishes. If you like gutsy wine, this one is for you.

Clare Valley and Surrounding Regions
Beautifully fresh varietal fruit with a slight touch of earthiness mingles with toasly oak and has a nice tannin preserce. Good food wine that's drinking well now.
