Deep crimson with an intense purple hue.
Wine Bouquet
Aromas of dark berry fruits and ripe plum dominate the aroma with secondary earth and spice characters evident along with lifted cedar and vanilla from oak.
Wine Palate
This wine is medium bodied with an abundance of ripe, juicy plum and red berry fruit characters. The fruit flavours are balanced by subtle spicy characters of nutmeg and cinnamon. The tannins are soft and the acids well balanced with finishing long and full-flavoured.
Cellaring Notes
Crafted to be immediately approachable however in ideal conditions, the wine should cellar well to 2018, possibly longer.

Drink - Wine Picks of the Week
This merlot deserves a plug if only because there are relatively few reds made from this generally disappointing grape that are worth commendation. It's lighter in body and softer in texture than the others, plump and fleshy, both sweet and savoury, friendly. Within its varietal class and at a reasonable price, highly recommended.

Wine of the Week
This is a stand-out among lower-priced merlots, thanks to its red-berry flavours and aromas, with some earthy and slightly stewy spects. It's old fashioned and a touch rustic, with some warmth from alcohol. While it's not refined or elegant, it has abundant flavour and weight. Now to five years.
