Download Full Winemaker Note
Wine Colour
On release, the wine is an inky deep red with an intense purple hue.
Wine Bouquet
Aromas of dark berry fruits and ripe plum dominate the aroma with secondary licorice and spice characters evident along with lifted cedar and vanilla from the oak maturation.
Wine Palate
This wine is medium to full-bodied with a profusion of rich black berry fruit characters. The fruit flavours are balanced by subtle undertones of creamy chocolate and earth characters. The tannins are soft and supple and the acids well balanced with the wine finishing long, warm and full-flavoured.
Cellaring Notes
Crafted to be immediately approachable however in ideal conditions, the wine should cellar well to 2018, possibly longer.

Wine of the Week
A well-made young red from the Clare Valley's largest vineyard owners. It has a pleasant varietal nose that meanders through plum, raspberry and fruit-mince pie aromas, to a light-to-medium-bodied palate of attractive fruit intensity with a light structure of dry tannins woven through the agreeably sustained finish. Good buying.

Rachael McDonald, B Magazine, March 2011
The sweetness of the strong chocolate and vanilla flavour on the palate might not be everyone's cup of tea (or Merlot), but this medal-winning wine is balanced with blackberries and earthy tannins, and is a great-value partner for pasta or meat dishes.

Drinks
Coming from the heartland of Australian wine - Clare Valley, South Australia, this is a full-bodied, super ripe Merlot with dense plum and blackberry flavours so much bigger than ours. You could mistake it for a good Aussie Shiraz. It finishes long with nutmeg and licorice spice with medium tannins. Great value.
