  • Taylors Estate Shiraz 201489/100

Mike Bennie, Wine Front, June 2015

Pretty, sweet-fruited perfume showing with medicinal cherry elixir characters, white pepper, white flowers, garrigue and mixed spice. Palate is trim, slick then finishes with decent, fine tannin and some gentle sweetness. There's length here, a mesh of fruit and brisk acidity, a vibrant feel and sleekness to the wine. Nicely done, fitting a zeitgeist of style for 'syrah'.

    Taylors Estate Shiraz 201485/100

Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate, July 2015

    Taylors Estate Shiraz 2014
Medium deep garnet-purple in color, the 2014 Shiraz is slightly rubbery on the nose with notes of tar and licorice encasing the blackcurrant and blackberry aromatic core. Medium-bodied, the palate is simple and fresh with soft tannins and a medium-long finish.

  • Australia's Taylors Estate delivers a diverse collection of wines
    Taylors Estate Shiraz 2014

    Gabe Sasso, Bullz-eye.com, October 2015

Australia's Taylors Estate delivers a diverse collection of wines
The Taylor Estate in the Clare Valley was the source of the fruit for this Shiraz. After fermentation, it was aged in American oak for 12 months. Big, red and black fruit characteristics emerge on the boisterous nose here. The palate is studded with similar characteristics, as well as bits of espresso and dark bitter chocolate. The long finish is spice-driven and loaded with additional fruit elements such as blackberry and raspberry. This is a fruit-driven Shiraz that is also proportionate and even keeled.

  • Is this the best Shiraz in Australia?
    Taylors Estate Shiraz 201491/100

    Huon Hooke, HuonHooke.com, November 2015

Is this the best Shiraz in Australia?
Deep purple/red colour and a clean, fresh fragrant nose of berry fruits, including raspberry, red cherry and blackberry, with oak barely noticeable. There are elements of licorice as well, and the fruit is fully ripe. Full-bodied. The tannins are abundant and measured, balancing the fruit sweetness. The wine is approachable now, but also cellarable: balanced and complete. Great value for money. (The Great Australian Shiraz Challenge 2015 winner)

  • Top 10 for the Wine Bluffer
    Taylors Estate Shiraz 2014

Jeni Port, Sydney Morning Herald, January 2016

Top 10 for the Wine Bluffer
Extraordinary value here in a wine that beat wines far loftier in reputation û and price û to win this yearÆs Great Australian Shiraz Challenge. While dense and full-bodied, itÆs the fruit that intrigues: cherry/raspberry/plum liqueur, choc-vanilla. And so smooth and textural

  • Tipples from Down Under
    Taylors Estate Shiraz 2014

Julian Whittle, Cumberland News, January 2016

    Tipples from Down Under
Talking of medals, Taylors Estate Shiraz has collected a whole stash of them. The Clare Valley is at a relatively high altitude û the vineyards are 1,500ft above sea level û which makes for cooler growing conditions. The resulting wines have finesse and balance. The Taylors has real punch of plummy fruit, with just enough tannin. ItÆs in Majestic at ú11.99 or ú8.99 as part of a mini case of six, and makes a splendid partner for haggis, tatties and neeps if youÆre celebrating Burns Night on Monday.

Screw cap. Exceptional Shiraz: very ripe in character (cassis, loganberry jam, plum, violet, white pepper), full bodied, very supple in texture, and quite rich; a wine with very good balance, evident oak complexity (vanilla, toast, cedar, tobacco), and a long finish. Aged 12 months in American oak barrels. 14% [2016-2018]

  • High praise for 100 top tipples from Australia
    Taylors Estate Shiraz 2014

Brian Elliot, Scotland on Sunday, July 2016

High praise for 100 top tipples from Australia
Partly because it faithfully reflects - in simplified form - the style of other (seriously expensive) Taylors reds, the Matthew Jukes selection includes another Clare Valley favourite, 2014 Taylors Estate Shiraz. Enjoy, in particular, its full, rounded but soft, bramble fruit with limited tannin, firm acidity and suggestions of vanilla, cloves and other sweeter spices.

  • Wine of the Week
    Taylors Estate Shiraz 2014

Joanna Simon, House & Garden, July 2016

    Wine of the Week
Most red wine is drunk too warm, but people are reluctant to put it inthe fridge for the 30 minutes or so that would bring it down to a more flattering 15¡-18¦C, rather than around 22¦C (restaurants and bars are even worse ¡ don't let me start on that). The fear is that the wine will emerge unpleasantly cold or somehow damaged. In 30 minutes it won't unless your fridge temperature is exceptionally low, but the label of this supple, rich, cassis and dark chocolate ¡flavoured Shiraz gives all the reassurance anyone needs. It has a temperature sensor on its back¡label and a graduated colour chart: if the sensor is at the pale lilac end of the chart, the wine is too warm; if it's dark purple, it's too cold. What could be simpler? It's a wine that takes red meat in its stride, but is soft and easygoing enough not to overpower lighter food. I feel a barbecue coming on.

Solid and full-bodied with big black fruit aromas. This terrific Australian Shiraz is tarry, spicy and peppery on the palate and finish. Pair with hamburgers.
