Fantastic value... 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Clare Valley, South Australia. This is a juicy, full-bodied garnet red wine with a spicy nose and rich black fruits, meat, leather, cedar spice and vanilla flavours on the palate. This is your strip loin on the barbie red.

Eucalyptus and cassis complement black currants and blackberries in this typically herbal Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium-plus in body, that same black fruit and slightly medicinal herbs carry forward in the glass. Tannins are smooth. Pay attention to the temperature sensor/chart on the back label—the Taylopr family winemakers is a leader in reminding wine fans that we tend to drink reds too warm and white wines too cold.

A very challenging cool, wet and late vintage. From the Clare Valley. Moderately rich cabernet with cassis, crushed herbs, dark berries. A fine-grained and accessible red for relatively early consumption.

Vibrant blackberry and blueberry flavors are dense and juicy, with pretty details of gunpowder tea, black pepper and fresh sage. Shows plenty of harmony on the finish. Drink now through 2029.

Cabernet’s recognizable green characters are on show here—tobacco leaf and green pepper—followed by red currant and plum fruit and some charred oak notes. Medium bodied, the palate feels somewhat thin and the tannins a touch astringent, a sensation that’s aided by sharp-edged acidity, but the fruit is tangy and the varietal character shows right to the finish.

Bright, medium density garnet. Red fruit, brambles and herbal, green stem like notes plus brown spices. There's a nice refinement and line, and plenty of density to the palate. Straightforward drinking.

Aged in 100 per cent French oak and loaded with dark fruit, cedar, cinnamon and powerful tannins. This is the wine that made the Taylor family famous -- store this one a few years or decant upon opening.

Ever reliable: the matching choice of so many mid-week dinners and summer weekend BBQs. Pencil wood and perfumed black currant with almost rose petal florals and red apple skin. Cedary woody notes and slightly green/stalky mulberry. Medium to full, with mesh-like tannins enveloping a precise cassis palate. Tightly varietal with a hint of touch of rusticity, the flavour tail falls away before the desired end point but the quality is evident for the price point.

Screw cap. Full bodied and intensely flavored, this is an excellent wine. It has complex aromas/flavors (black currant, cassis, loganberry, red licorice, oak), good balance, a hint of tannin, and a medium long finish. Can be aged further. Great value. 14% [2019-2022]

Rich, lively aromas of red and black cherry/berry fruit interweave with piquant spice and wisps of white pepper. It spreads over the palate medium-plus bodied, deftly balanced and generously textured. Palate flavours of ripe black bramble berry and crunchy pie cherry mingle with delightful tangy acidity and fine, soft tannin. Good to go now and the next five or so years; give it a go with grilled rack of lamb or medium-rare steak.

Keeping the varietal theme alive, 2017 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has always been one of the most talked about wines on my 100 Best Roadshow and in 2017 it takes on a very different shape than in the years gone by. A cooler and wetter year, 2017 was a fabulous vintage for aromatic Cabernet and this wine has succulent fruit, bright mint leaf touches and also a silky, slippery texture.
