More Information
Previous Vintages 2009, 2010, 2012
Region Clare Valley 55% / Coonawarra 45%
Colour At release, the wine has a deep ruby red colour to the centre with a youthful purple hue to the edges.
Nose There are lifted aromas of dark blackcurrant fruit along with subtle choc-mint and a hint of eucalypt.
Palate This is a rich full-bodied wine yet at the same time, remains in balanced across the palate with fine, elegant tannins – the hallmark of great Cabernet. Intense flavours of blackcurrant and cassis delight with subtle savoury French oak characters of cedar and spice. The finish is long and persistent.
Vintage Conditions Growing conditions leading up to vintage 2013 could best be described as benign, apart from a few frost events in mid-October. There were very few significant rainfall events over the growing period with the season being described overall as dry. The first week of December saw rainfall which was most definitely a season changer. Without the rain event, the overall yields from 2013 would have been very low. Harvest conditions were excellent, allowing for a long ripening period and our winemakers report that quality is outstanding across all varieties, with excellent flavour development and tannin ripeness displayed in the resultant wines.
Oak Maturation The wine was matured in French oak barrels (50% 1 year old, 50% a combination of 2 and 3 year old) for a period of 10 to 12 months before being bottled.
Cellaring Notes Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a long term under ideal conditions.

I always look forward to tasting the new release Jaraman wines from Taylors. Once again the new vintage lives up to the outstanding reputation of this label, being rich and luscious.

Minty coolness on the nose of this gorgeous Australian red wine is flooded by fleshy blackberry richness on the palate. A hedonist’s wine to fill the senses. Full-bodied and smooth Cabernet Sauvignon. Finishes with dried herbs, tobacco leaves, cedar brush, cracked black pepper, dark spice and black olive. Firm tannins. Good cellar wine. Very satisfying, especially at this price. Pair with ribeye steak.

Strong with mint and blackcurrant but feels velvety as it slips along the tougue and has enough weight to make you sit up straighter. This is a very good Jaraman cabernet. It will hold and mature but I'd drink it young, mostly because it feels so good to sink your teeth into its youthful juiciness.

    89/100 Very Good
Dynamic, opening with a note of fresh mint that gives way to plum and currant flavors, and cedar and nutmeg accents, on a taut frame. Drink now through 2028.

Screw cap. Excellent Cabernet Sauvignon: full bodied and complex in flavor, it is fairly rich, well balanced, long on the palate, and mildly tannic and very persistent in the finish. In aroma/flavor, it tastes of black currant, eucalyptus, cherry, tobacco, cedar, toast, pepper, and green olive. Warrants aging. Fine value.55% Clare Valley, 45% Coonawarra. Aged 7 months in French oak barrels. 14.5% [2018-2023]

Very varietal nose - all blackcurrants and herbs. Similar palate showing oaky overtones.

The fruit for this entry in the Jaraman line comes from Clare Valley (55 percent) and Coonawarra (45 percent). After fermentation, it was aged in a combination of new and previously used French oak. Dark fruit and savory herb aromas abound on the nose of this Cabernet. The palate is lush and loaded with dark fruit, copious spices and bits of mineral. Toast, earth, hints of vanilla and lots more fruit flavors are all in play on the above-average finish. Firm acid and tannins mark the structure here. What I like most about this Cabernet is how fresh and refreshing it is.

This cab sauv is a careful blend of ripe fruit from Clare Valley (55 per cent) and Coonawarra (45 per cent). The resulting wine is deep red in colour with a vibrant purple hue to the edges. There are lifted aromas of cassis and blackcurrant, with subtle chocolate mint characters and complex spice and cigar box notes from the oak. It is a full-bodied, well-balanced wine, with a long and persistent finish. Will reward with some time in the cellar.

Green olive and black olive. Cassis and resin. Black pastille gloss and a meaty counterpoint. Almost syrupy with hyper fine tannins that work like a icroPlane Grater across through the palate. Olive savoury with chicory bittersweet tartness. Herbaceous, (almost medicinal) lift. Closed, reticent and dark. Only after being open for 2 days did light black fruit start to peak like first light at dawn after a moonless night. An odd beastie, this will need time to (hopefully) age wonderfully.
