Colour At release, the wine is a youthful pale straw colour with vibrant green hue to the edges.
Nose The wine has ripe white peach aromas along with hints of tropical fruit and subtle creamy oak. Enticing sweet spice and savoury cashew nut from the French oak add complexity to the bouquet.
Vintage Conditions In the growing season leading up to vintage 2017, winter rainfall was above average and the corresponding low soil temperatures resulted in budburst occurring up to a month later than in recent years. Weather conditions during flowering were favourable and fruit set was good across all varieties. Harvest began in late February and picking continued at a slow and steady rate until early May due to the prevailing mild conditions. Overall, or winemakers have declared the vintage to be above average in terms of quantity and fruit quality.
Oak Maturation The oak regime employed for this wine is 80% new & 20% 1 year old French oak (tight-grained which is air seasoned for 3 years), sourced from Louis Latour, a specialist Burgundian supplier. After 10 months of oak maturation, then minimal fining and filtration, the wine was bottled.
Cellaring Notes Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a medium term under ideal conditions.

Medium yellow, bright colour, with an intense almond aroma, caramel and toasted almond, quite rich and complex, the palate following the same lines, with a rich middle, then savoury dryness to finish. Attractive mouth-feel and balance. Some butterscotch and peanut brittle in the middle-palate. A generous, complex, almost opulent style which is drinking at its best now.

A rich style with plenty of toasty oak complexity, across ripe peaches that follow to the palate and deliver a fleshy, long and appealing impression. Drink now. Screw cap.

Richer, fuller and more complex than its stable mates. Plenty of technique on display - barrel ferment notes, introducing both yeast and spicy oak plus malo driven lactic notes, which all increase the volume of the wine. The impression is of a ‘polished sweetness'.

Intense, with sweet butter overtones to the smooth, succulent pear, peach and dried pineapple notes. Impressive for the focus, with hints of toast and spice on the long finish. Drink now.

The 2017 St. Andrews Chardonnay is an exceptional wine in a complex, elegant style: full bodied but crisp and at present somewhat woody (which should integrate over time), with intense peach, vanilla, pineapple, pear, vanilla, lemon, and toasty oak aromas/flavors, and a very long, rich finish. Superb quality and value; arrants further aging. Aged 10 months in Louis Latour French oak barrels, 80% new.
