Region Clare Valley
Colour At release, the wine has a deep crimson colour with a purple hue to the edge.
Nose The wine has powerful, enticing aromas of rich, ripe berry fruit along with juicy black plum and cherry. Mouth-watering wafts of spice and mocha oak invite you to taste.
Palate On the palate, the wine is all power with rich, ripe black fruits layered with lashings of coffee, chocolate and spice from high quality oak. The palate builds further with well-balanced, mouth filling chewy tannins delivering a very luscious, generous wine with textural complexity. A real presence on the palate, this is a powerful wine on the front and mid palate, builds to the finish, but ending well with a soft finish and persistence of ripe red fruits, cherry and spiced plum flavours.
Vintage Conditions The 2010 growing season in the Clare Valley commenced with above average winter/spring rainfall.. During flowering in November an unprecedented heat wave occurred; the Clare Valley experienced 13 consecutive days above 30 degrees C. This heat-wave coincided with the peak of vine flowering, which resulted in reduced yields. The heat-wave was finally broken by some much needed rainfall, which reinvigorated the vines. While temperatures were a little higher than average during late January and February, the evenings and mornings were cool and mild, contributing to favourable sugar, flavour and tannin ripening conditions resulting in wines of extraordinary character.
Oak Maturation A percentage of the wine was barrel fermented and the final blend was matured in a mixture of fine-grained French and water-bent American oak barrels for 12 months prior to filtering and bottling.
Cellaring Notes Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a long term under ideal conditions.

Almost a caricature of the famous, mainstream South Australian style of Shiraz, this big, ripe red partners deep, spicy, blackberry and blackcurrant fruit character with sweet oak in easy balance. This single-vinearys release has potent flavour concentration and great texture, with a mocha flavoured, lingering finish.

Purple black color. Bold spicy, herbal aromas of chocolate mint, menthol, and black raspberry pie with a silky, fruity medium-to-full body and a long, juicy vanilla, nut, sour cherry, and mineral accented finish and chewy tannins. A vibrant, flavorful and structured shiraz for sipping or the table

Spicy, smoky and polished, medium-weight and supple in the mouth, with expressive, beautifully modulated black cherry, currant and roasted pepper flavors. This persists easily on the finish. Drink now through 2020. 250 cases imported. –HS

We love the big, opulent, in-your-face Shiraz fruit bombs made by so many Aussie vintners. This is not one of them. Yet, we love this wine, too. Its opaque purple-black hue is typical of those big teeth stainers, but this wine is more Claret-like. Neatly integrated, it offers impressions of wintergreen, raspberry, cherry, spice/pepper and a hint of petroleum. Whereas most Down Under Shiraz bottlings are great companions to barbecue fare, this one is better suited to a thick, juicy steak.

screw cap. Delicious Shiraz, in a full, ripe, moderately complex style. It is medium rich, fleshy in texture, and long on the palate, with light tannin on the finish. In aroma/flavor, it tastes of black cherry, plum, cinnamon, toast, aniseed, and oak. Long persistence. Aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels. [2015-2018]

This shiraz has already won a trophy at the China Wine & Spirits Awards and 12 gold medals at wine competitions around the world, including the International Wine Challenge and Sydney International Wine Competition. The St Andrews Shiraz is expressive of ripe black fruits, which are layered with lashings of coffee and chocolate, and is strong on the front and mid-palate, and soft on the finish.
