Sustainability

The world is ours to share

Our Commitment to the Land & Sea

As winemakers we understand that green is as important as red and white. Since 1969, the Taylor family has operated in both rural and urban settings and we're committed to ensuring we function in a responsible and sustainable manner in both environments - on the land as well as in the sea. Nurturing our estate vineyards means that our family has a strong connection to the land but many would be surprised to learn about our equally strong connection to the sea. Just look at the label on our award-winning wines for the clue. On every one of our wines, in some form or another, proudly sits our unique seahorse emblem.

Act Responsibly For Future Generations

Our goal is to be Australia's best wine company applying best practice principles in environmental management to enhance sustainable business activities and products. We favour the use of the most innovative techniques available to improve energy efficiency, water conservation and packaging. We take all measures available to prevent or eliminate as far as possible the production of waste or pollution. Through this holistic approach to environmental management we aim to achieve sustainable land and biodiversity management outcomes for the present and future.

The Seahorse

Our Symbol of Sustainability

For over fifty years seahorses have been the symbol of our family winery. On first glance, winemakers and marine scientists seem like unlikely allies. But we do face a common problem - climate change. Seahorses, much like grapevines, are indicator species that raise the alarm for serious climate-related issues. It's very important we do what we can to reverse their population decline before it's too late. At national and global scales, we partner with an organisation that are working to protect seahorses and secure thriving populations of these quirky fishes.

The Sydney Institute of Marine Science

We are proud to partner with Project Seahorse, global experts on seahorse and marine conservation, to raise awareness and funds that help ensure our marine ecosystems are healthy and well-managed. Project Seahorse has won a string of global awards for its effective gains in conservation of seahorses and the ocean. The magic of seahorses has the potential to excite great enthusiasm for marine conservation. Seahorses live in vitally important and threatened coastal habitats and come under pressure from many diverse fisheries.

By getting it right for seahorses - such as setting up marine protected areas, reining in bad fishing practices, and regulating wildlife trade - Project Seahorse is also supporting many thousands of other marine species.
