Single Variety

region

Yarra Valley

colour

At release, the wine has a deep rose colour to the centre with a vibrant garnet hue to the edges.

nose

There is a delicate perfume of red cherry and strawberry with underlying delicate spice.

palate

This is a light to medium-bodied wine with a supple yet plump texture. On the palate, there is generous red cherry flavours with hints of strawberry along with a touch of spice from French oak. The finish is long, graceful and wonderfully persistent.

oak maturation

A small portion of this wine was barrel fermented and then lees stirred for 4 months. After 6 - 8 months maturation in French oak, the wine was blended and bottled.

vintage conditions

A warm and dry season with good rainfall in December helping with the early heat in January. The season was characterised by intermittent heat spikes followed by cool changes. Harvest commenced in the latter third of February but then a week of temperatures over 35°C, brought everything on and ready at the same time, causing the picking to progress at a frantic pace. In the end it was a short, challenging vintage, however the resultant wines look incredibly good.

cellaring notes

Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a medium term under ideal conditions.
