Oak Maturation: American oak was employed for its ability to deliver robust characters. After maturing in oak for a period of 10 months, the wine was blended, filtered and bottled.
Vintage Condition: Coonawarra received good winter rains leading into the growing season. A cool and dry April was perfect for ripening, allowing full flavour development and optimal sugar levels. Yields of red wine varieties were average to slightly below the long-term averages. All in all, winemakers have declared the vintage 2019 in Coonawarra to be excellent. In the Clare Valley, the growing season leading up to vintage saw lower than average winter and spring rainfall. This, along with some hail and frost events, affected yields overall. There were some extreme weather conditions during the growing season, including the lowest temperature recorded in spring and the highest ever temperature in summer, but overall, the vines showed great resilience and wine quality is excellent across the classic varieties.
Cellaring Notes: Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a long term under ideal conditions.
