Tasting Notes

Nose: An elegant, complex aroma, with faint cassis, mint, spice, ripe dark fruit and olives. White pepper, tobacco and cedarwood create a beautiful bouquet while alluring dark mint chocolate simmers in the background over red and black berry fruit.

Palate:Opens with ripe cassis, leading to a concentrated back end supported by fine-grained tannins. Layers of mint, cassis, and spice add complexity while subtle French oak cradles the fruit with graceful refinement.

Colour: At release, the wine is a deep garnet at the core with a brick red hue to the rim.

Oak Maturation: Following a slow fermentation and malolactic fermentation, the wine was matured in fine-grained Bordeaux barriques, both new and old, for up to 24 months before being bottled.

Vintage Condition: A warm El Niño season shaped the 2019 vintage, resulting in one of the fastest harvests in recent history. Ideal ripening conditions saw fruit harvested from early to mid-March, with the warm season driving flavours toward the darker end of the varietal spectrum, showcasing rich notes of dark plum, cassis, violets and blackberry.

Cellaring Notes: Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a long term under ideal conditions.
