Vintage Condition: The season for vintage 2020 in the Clare Valley started with challenging weather events, including spring frosts at budburst and then hot and windy conditions during flowering. The start of summer brought wild weather; from searing heat and bushfires to heavy rain and chilly, gusty winds. February and March saw weather conditions return to relatively normal, and harvest progressed smoothly and steadily. While it was a very tough year for growers, the quality of the fruit was high. In Coonawarra, the season began well with good rainfall between May and September and the region was fortunate not to have been affected by the bush fires that occurred throughout the summer. Whilst yields were down, warm days and cool nights provided the perfect ripening conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon and the wines from this vintage look excellent.
Cellaring Notes: Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a long term under ideal conditions.
