Taylors' Triumph: Double Trophy Win at MUNDUS VINI Grand International Wine Awards

We're beyond excited about the news from Germany that was announcement over the weekend at the 34th annual MUNDUS VINI Grand International Wine Awards crowning us with two Trophies along with a Grand Gold and nine Gold medals

Taylors Wines received the Trophy for "Best of Show Australia White" and a Gold Medal for Taylors Jaraman Sauvignon Blanc 2023 (Adelaide Hills), along with the Trophy for "Best Producer from Australia" at this prestigious international wine competition.

In addition our list of accolades included to one Grand Gold medal for Taylors Reserve Parcel Shiraz 2022 and nine Gold medals, which secured us with the title of Best Producer Australia. It is the second year running we've been honoured to claim the Best of Show Australian White and Best Producer Australia awards at the MUNDUS VINI, with Taylors Jaraman Chardonnay 2022 taking the crown in 2023.

We were certainly in good company and proud to stand with fellow South Australian wineries such as Kilikanoon, who took out "Best of Show Australian Red", to showcase Australian wine on the world stage. South Australian wineries as a whole claimed 40 out of the 41 Grand Gold and Gold medals awarded to Australia’s wineries, demonstrating the calibre of high-quality wines from our country’s wine-producing capital.

Taylors Managing Director and Winemaker, Mitchell Taylor, has expressed great excited for this international recognition which comes at a crucial time for the Australian wine industry, as we anxiously await the re-opening of the Chinese market in the midst of a challenging economic climate.

“It’s an interesting time for the Australian wine industry. On one end, our winemakers continue to be celebrated for their skill and outstanding wines, which is something to celebrate. On the other, we continue to feel the pressures of ongoing trade tariffs in China on top of some of the most challenging international market conditions in over a decade,” Taylor said.

“We’re feeling very optimistic about the potential of China reopening to our wines, particularly as we know through these awards we can demonstrate that Australian wines are some of the best in the world. I’m thrilled Taylors is recognised again at the MUNDUS VINI and look forward to celebrating with the team at the winery as we continue to work through vintage 2024.”

“International wine shows provide a valuable benchmarking opportunity for our wines against producers worldwide. Our winemakers strive to craft exceptional wines for people to enjoy with their friends and loved ones, and it’s amazing to see wines from across our portfolio recognised on the global stage. I’m so proud of the team and confident the future is bright for Australian wineries,” Taylor said.

The MUNDUS VINI Grand International Wine Award is one of Europe’s largest international wine shows, with wines from 45 different nations being tasted in person by more than 250 wine experts from around the world. The Spring Tasting results and Best of Show winners were announced at the end of ProWein, a major wine and spirits trade fair, in Dusseldorf on the 12th of March.
