Winter Warmer: A Cosy Taylors Mulled Wine Recipe

When the Australian winter sets in, there’s nothing quite like the comforting aroma of mulled wine to warm your hands—and your soul. Whether you’re entertaining friends by the fire or enjoying a quiet night in, this simple yet decadent mulled wine recipe is your go-to winter drink.
Featuring the bold character of our Taylor Made Malbec and the soft, fruity richness of our Estate Label Merlot, this mulled wine is infused with fragrant spices, fresh orange, and just the right touch of brandy and honey to create a perfectly balanced, warming winter treat.
Ingredients:
-
1 bottle (750ml) Taylor Made Malbec
-
½ bottle (375ml) Estate Label Merlot
-
1 fresh orange, sliced into rounds
-
6 whole cloves
-
3 (3") cinnamon sticks
-
3 whole star anise pods
-
½ cup brandy
-
¼ cup honey
-
Dried orange slices, to garnish
Method:
-
In a large pot, combine all ingredients.
-
Gently bring the mixture to a simmer over low-medium heat. Do not let it boil - just a slow, steady warmth is perfect to allow the flavours to mingle.
-
Simmer for about 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
-
Once heated and fragrant, ladle into heatproof glasses or mugs.
-
Garnish with a dried orange slice and serve warm.
If you're entertaining, keep the mixture in a slow cooker or warming pot to ladle out throughout the evening. Your home will be filled with the nostalgic scent of winter spices and wine!
Serves: This recipe makes approximately 6 to 8 serves, depending on your pour size.
Tips for the Perfect Mulled Wine:
-
Don’t boil the wine - simmering gently will help preserve the alcohol and the layered flavours of the wine.
-
You can prepare this ahead of time and reheat gently when ready to serve.
-
Add a splash more honey if you prefer a sweeter finish, or a slice of lemon for added zest.
Try it this weekend and let the wine do the warming.
